Summary

A component, responsible for the chemical induction of fibrinolysis by flufenamate, was isolated from human plasma. The isolation procedures included removal of euglobulin precipitate from plasma, Sephadex G-200 gel filtration of the euglobulin- supernatant fraction and isoelectric focusing. The partially purified component was immunologically distinct from ßioglobulin, plasmin and plasminogen. Plasminogen activator activity was liberated from the component by treatment with flufenamate. The mechanism of induction of fibrinolysis by flufenamate is discussed.
